Light steel portal frame has its properties, such as light weight and high strength, short construction period, beautiful architectural appearance, low cost and so on. At the same time, its application foreground will be very extensive along with the output of the steel of our country increased. But the poor fire-resistance ability is the main weakness of Light steel portal frame, its mechanical property such as strength and elastic modulus decrease severely in high temperature. When the fire occurs, severe damage or global collapse will happen to the steel structure. So, it would play a very important role in the theory and practice to study the problem of fire-resistance of steel portal frame.In this paper, finite element method is used in the analysis of cross section temperature field of I-shaped steel beam under fire in different position. It can gain the temperature contours and its rules. In the heat analysis of ANSYS, the space node must be defined in the open system in order to keep conversation of energy. This paper put forward a method to ascertain the temperature of the space node, it can be helpful to improve the precision while analyze the problem.The temperature field analysis of steel portal frame with tapered members under ISO834 international standards temperature curve and large space temperature is carried through by the finite element method. The influence of the fire position to the rise of temperature of the beam of the steel frame is discussed. The time-temperature curve along the axial and the height are obtained. On this basis, the response of the steel portal frame with tapered members under different fire conditions is obtained by the elastic-plastic finite element analysis.Through the fire-response analysis of steel component under fire in different position and steel portal frame with tapered members under local fire, it can be helpful to the research of structure fire- resistant and the fire-resistant design of the practical engineering in the future.
