A Study On Landscape Design In The Renew Of Historical Waterfront In Domestic Cities

The urban waterfront area is becoming more and more vigorous in China. The urban waterfront area also becomes the hot spot in the landscape plan and design. But many plans or design neither respect the nature, nor meet the demand of the human and the historical culture. This will not only destroy the frail ecological environment in the district, but also greatly destruct the city humanities environment. So the imminent mission is to enhance the biodiversity of the urban waterfront area, while creating a new image of the waterside old region to reach the goal of humanity and to preserve the history and cultural tradition of the city through the landscape plan and design.For the perspective of the landscape plan and design of waterfront area, this paper will mainly discuss the nature conservation and humanity in the landscape plan and design. After discussing the construction history and the present situation of domestic and foreign waterfront area, it summarizes the significance and proposes the plan and design methods by the philosophy of respecting the nature and humanity. After distinguishing between the concepts of "riverside" and "waterside" in Chinese cities, the author discusses the history and today's reality of the traditional riverside region with reference of Pearl River of Guangzhou, and puts forward the theory of renewal design based on humanism. Furthermore, the author tries to apply this theory to the renewal and design of the old riverside region of Pearl River in Guangzhou, and explores the practical application based on this field.In the first and the second chapter, it points out the realistic problems in the landscape plan and design of urban waterfront area in China, i.e. lacking the respect to the nature and humanity, and also explains the reason. Then the ecology method and the humanities idea is discussed, which are used in the progress of regulating waterways and the overseas waterfront construction in the ancients. Then it summarizes the methodology and principles of ecological humanity design and points out the essence of these plans and designs. In chapter three, the essential factors of the waterfront plan and design as well as the plan design complex characteristic, the latter chapter elaborates the first argument: the ecology methods based on the philosophy of nature conservation. It analyzes the essence of ecological design of riverfront, and summarizes the design principle and method, and the essential factor of ecology design and design method. Then the paper elaborates the second argument: the humanity methods based on the philosophy of respecting humanity. After analyzing the human being's physical and the spiritual demand, it summarizes the humanity design principles and methods. It also discusses some specially important questions about how to make this methodology applicable.In chapter four, proposes that the stance of humanism is the most suitable for the renewal of the riverside region. In the following parts, the concept of human culture is interpreted through analysis of relevant ideas and rules, and the key elements of design in riverside regions and some other important problems are discussed. This part also focuses on the exploration of the deep-seated structure of humanism approaches in the renewal.In the chapter five, analyzes the urban riverfront area of Guangzhou in the landscape plan and design. In the last part of this section, the author expounds the application of the humanist renewal approaches to the Pearl River old riverside region of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province.After summarizing the dissertation, the epilogue concludes with an emphasis that the renewal design of riverside old regions in cities of China should take an approach that fits in the Chinese historic and cultural background.
