The interaction of surface and internal solitary waves with floating structures is of considerable importance for the exploitation of coastal defense and oil-gas resource in ocean. The ability of the linear potential theory will be limited to solve this kind of problem. The numerical wave flume based on the viscous fluid theory will be a more effective and direct way to solve such non-linear hydrodynamic problems. On the basis of reviewing and summarizing the recent research progress of this subject, the work in the following aspects has been carried out:In ChapterⅡ, a 2D numerical flume for surface solitary wave with the ability of wave generation and absorption is developed by use of the Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) equations under the k ?εmodel and the volume of fluid (VOF) method. The validity of waves generating and absorbing is numerically confirmed. Moreover, the interaction of the surface solitary wave with a vertically walled porous structure is considered. The characteristics of the velocity field and the variation of the wave profiles induced by the interaction between the surface solitary wave and the porous structure are numerically analyzed. The comparison with the corresponding experimental results is given, showing a good agreement. In ChapterⅢ, based on the 3D numerical flume for surface solitary wave, the interaction between the surface solitary wave and single combined cylinders with perforated outer wall is numerically simulated. Numerical results are presented to show the effects of different porosities of the outer cylinder and different wave-effect parameter are important effects to the wave forces on the inner cylinder, and it is found that changing the porosity of the outer cylinder can decrease the wave force on the inner cylinder. In ChapterⅣ, a 3D numerical flume for internal solitary wave flume is developed by use of the double-piston wave-maker technology. Moreover, considering the interaction of internal solitary waves with a fixed cylinders in viscous fluid, the interaction between the internal solitary wave and vertical cylinder is numerically simulated, which shows a good agreement with the Morison formula results. In ChapterⅤ,the interaction of internal solitary waves with a floating cylinder is successful numerically simulated by use of the 3D internal solitary wave flume. The motion response of the floating cylinder induced by the internal solitary wave are calculated, and the characteristics of free surface and velocity field around the cylinder are analyzed.
