| In the modern history of urban planning, northeastern China had been the most developed and urbanized region nationwide. The urban planning work in the northeastern cities was so advanced during the time that it shaped very unique urban spaces and urban forms. According to theories of urban form, this thesis analyzed with a new perspective on urban structure, road network, square design, street control, block texture and landscape system of the cities of Shenyang, Changchun, Harbin and Dalian. The thesis interpreted how these cities shaped and evolved, and explained how the western modern urban planning theories, design principles and legislations affected the urban form of northeastern cities, in order to fully understand the cities' history and unique features, and provide positive suggestions for the future. |
