In this paper, parallel reactive power compensation device technology status has been displayed, and then based on a detailed analysis of relationship and impact of the reactive power compensation capacitors and harmonic, the Combined Control System of Harmonic Restraint and Voltage-Reactive Power in Baotou Iron and Steel Company has been designed. According to the control of voltage and reactive power integrated technical requirements and function, the Combined Control System using IPC hardware platform and Windows and its peripherals, controller hardware election and software have been designed. Installation, commissioning and operation of a 110 kV Substation shows that: The system can dynamic regulate the output of reactive capacitor, balance the reactive power, and increase the power quality owing to harmonic suppression.
