Traditional anti-seismic design method all assumes that the ground is rigid and use the displacement of the free field as input ground motion for structure. When the foundation has a huge rigidity and the superstructure has a small rigidity, the assumption is advisable in the engineering range. But when the building's rigidity is close to the foundation, this assumption will produces significant errors in determining the superstructure's response.Multistorey and highrise structures. The massless base model and artifical boundary model are still most widely applied approximate methods for its easiness though many approaches have been proposed for the seismic soil—structure interaction analysis.each theory of these two has its own pros and cons, this thesis try to combine the two theory in order to realize complementary strengths ,so that a simplified model for dynamic soil-structure interaction analysis can be suggested for engineering design.
