In China, the populations of the rural areas are in the majority. Many industries are widely in the rural areas. It is the fundamental position of agriculture in the national economy. Recently, the Chinese government makes more reviews of agricultural modernization. The development of rural depends on electric power. So, electricity network construction should improve to apply the situation.Distribute networks used to distribute electric power to consumers in power system, its reliability produce important effects on the consumers. The level of reliability of distribute networks is long low in rural areas in china and it becomes the congestion for development of rural economy. Attribute to the upgrading of rural distribute networks, the structure of electric networks are improved in recent year. In spite of that, the reliability of distribute networks are often influenced by all kinds of factors, and the reliability is not high level. As the adjusting of industrial structure and the high requirement for power, the reliability of distribute networks becomes important factor of economy in rural areas. So the research of reliability in rural distribute networks plays more and more important role in research of reliability in power system field.This paper introduces the history of research of reliability power system and basic knowledge of reliability of electric network, and files the standards for reliability of distribute networks. Two basic methods-Analytical method and Simulation method, for electric network and the improved algorithms based on these two methods are summarized in this paper. Merits and faults or the two methods are judged in the paper.Mathematical model of distribute networks in rural areas is build by understanding the knowledge such as its running mode, structural characteristics, management mode. The mathematical mode is near the truth by considerate the weather, geographical environments, load of electric network in rural areas. A 10KV line of distribution networks is simulated by Monte Carlo and the result of simulation is analyzed. A method of variance analysis is introduced for evaluate the stands of reliability of rural distribute networks and satisfactory result is obtained. Application of the method is assists evaluating the stands of reliability of rural distribute networks. At last, the paper is summary, research of reliability of distribute networks in rural areas is outlook and some methods to improve the reliability of distribute networks are introduced in the paper.
