Based on previous experimental and theoretical studies, numerical study on the turbulent flow and heat transfer characteristics of Offset-Strip-Fin compact heat exchanger at middle and high Reynolds number With K-εturbulent model has been made. The predictions from the two-dimensional,steady-state model agree well with experimental results and correlations. It shows that the model is validated. This model is used to analyze how the distributions of velocity,temperature,pre-ssure and turbulent kinetic energy on single fin, three fins.five fins and six fins are formed. The effect of Reynolds number and fin location on the flow and heat transfer is investigated.Heat transfer factors from the model are compared with experimental data and empirical correlations, the difference is explained. Moreover, the effect of fin pitch and the number of rows of fins on the flow and heat transfer is also considered.Such analysis is helpful to understand the internal mechanism of the operation in the compact heat exchanger. This work shows the compact heat exchanger will have wide prospects in Air-condition application. It can be used for optimization studies and design of Offset-Strip-Fin compact heat exchanger.
