Composite structures is also called complex structures, it can utilize the different material characteristics and structural performances sufficiently. The composite frame structural system with RC columns and steel beams can effectively utilize the structural and economic advantages of both steel and concrete materials, and it has gained more and more research and application. Because of the complication of the constructional details and force transferring of RCS composite joints, more research is necessary to improve better understanding of their behavior and design method.In this paper, the various details of RCS composite joints and force transfer mechanisms with "through beam type" are studied, a model to predict the behavior of RCS joints is presented, it is believed that the joint strength is composed of the contributions of the inner element and outer element, where the inner element is the main force resisting part, the effect of different RCS composite joints details in force transferring is analyzed and the suggestion on joints details is presented. The components and component ratio of joint deformation and story drift are also analyzed.A panel shear failure and a bearing failure are identified in RCS composite joints. In this paper, experimental data of RCS composite joints are arranged and studied, referring to the design method of SRC composite joint and the research production on RCS composite joint, the design method of RCS composite joint with the two failure mode are deduced, the accuracy and applicability of the proposed design equations are examined by comparing with available experimental data, various factors that influence the strength of RCS joints are analyzed according to the experimental and calculated data.By the finite element analysis program ANSYS, the influence of various joint details on the behavior of RCS joints is studied, parameters considered include different details of face bearing plate and steel band plate, etc. Analysis results show that face bearing plate is a very important detail of RCS joints, and extended face bearing plate,wide face bearing plate or steel band plate can improve the strength of RCS joints more effectively.
