In the system with batteries, the remaining power is most important to user. Presently, most domestic battery meter have the disadvantage of low accuracy and poor compatibility with different batteries. After analyzing the product of Curtis, a US company, this dissertation focuses on designing a battery meter that based on MC68HC908LJ12 MCU from Freescale. This power meter can store the parameters of battery in the flash of MCU through universal hand-held programmer, SDF-1, so that it is compatible with different batteries. It implemented software filtering which improved accuracy and stability of the system. To strengthen the reliability and prevent the program from lost in infinite loop, the watchdog of MCU is also implemented.After introducing the status of battery meter in market and the knowledge related with the system, considering the goal of this project, the scheme of the whole design is confirmed. Then the module of system power, voltage acquisition, LCD display, remaining power display, relay output etc. was expatiated. With the implementation of the hardware, the software design and combination test of software and hardware are presented. At last, the author gives a brief conclusion of the project and talked about the issues that still need to be improved.This project was developed on commission of a Wuxi company. The power meter runs safely and reliable with high accuracy and was approved with high application value. Now it was in ramp up period of production.
