| As one of the primary modern design methods, optimization plays a very important role in each field of industry. Optimization algorithms are the base and core of optimization. There are about hundreds of optimization algorithms by this time. How to select these methods is the chief problem. Especially in mechanical engineering field, there are more applications of optimization algorithms than analyses recently. In addition, genetic algorithm has been widely used in recent years, but it also has some unavoidable disadvantages. So in this paper, these above problems are researched. It can provide technical assist for the application of optimization in engineering field.In this paper, several traditional and modern optimization algorithms are introduced first, and then the applications of them in mechanical engineering field are analyzed in order to get their characteristics. It can offer referenced gist for selecting optimization algorithms.Next some modified strategies of genetic algorithm are researched, and a modified genetic algorithm is put forward. The study on improvement is involved in parameter coding, producing original population, fitness function, genetic operators, selecting controls parameter, restriction treatment. It makes genetic algorithm to be used in restriction optimization more conveniently and promotes applicability of genetic algorithm in the use of engineering optimization. |
