Anti-lock braking system (the shortened form is ABS) is a kind of active safety device which can adjust the braking pressure automatically, prevent wheel from being locked up, and keep wheel on the optimal slip-ratio. This thesis studied certain light-duty bus, which analyzed braking process of this bus and built whole vehicle model, single wheel model, tire model and arrester model. According to the character of light-duty bus and the air braking system, the fuzzy control rules were based on the control of slip-ratio. And using the fuzzy tool box of Matlab software, the fuzzy controller was designed to the air ABS. Then the whole air ABS was simulated in the environment of Matlab/Simulink software. The results indicated that using the air ABS fuzzy controller in braking has remarkable effect on the aspect of prevention of wheel locking and it can decrease the stopping distance and the stopping time Comparing simulation results to testing results, we found two results were comparatively adjacent, which showed that simulation study on the air ABS fuzzy control is feasible. At last, influence factors to fuzzy control of the air ABS are analyzed.
