Because of the existence of air gap between different parts of steel cores of reactor, there is edge effect in the magnetic field around the air gap. According to electromagnetic theory, edge effect of air gap can cause the increase of eddy current in the partial laminated steel cores which can lead to temperature rise of the partial laminated steel cores.Based on the peculiarity of the laminated steel cores of reactor, the FEA model of linear power frequency eddy current field in the single silicon steel sheet is constructed and the calculation of lamination eddy current losses is done. In the course of analyzing eddy current field, periodic boundary is put forward in Cylindrical Coordinate System. By using the similarity principle , the problem that the smaller thickness of silicon steel sheet goes beyond the set valves which can be calculated by ANSYS is solved. Based on the analysis of eddy current losses in steel cores of reactor, distribution of iron losses on silicon steel sheet is acquired. What have been done in this paper makes a foundation for the further study of temperature field in the laminated steel cores of reactor.
