VSC-HVDC has been put into application successfully aboard, but there is still no project in our country. This paper mainly studied the modeling and simulation of VSC-HVDC based on Real-Time Digital Simulator, which include the NPC(three-level neutral point diode-clamped converter) VSC independent control strategy of active and reactive power in the condition of inversion and rectification, provided the transient control strategy when VSC is connected with passive network based on this. Experiments included power transmission, four quadrant operation of VSC, DC voltage control and power flow turnover when receiving side is passive network; power transmission, DC voltage control and AC voltage control when receiving side is active network; transient control when connected with passive network and active and passive loading comparatively large change.
