With the rapid development of power electronic technology, more and more power electronic equipment applied in industrial production, and has got tremendous social and economic efficiency. But because of the nonlinear character, the power equipment would cause substantive harmonics, and bring severe harmonics pollution to power system. So how to suppress power system harmonics availably has already become an important and necessitous mission.At present, the electrolytic aluminum industry adopt high power capacity rectifying devices generally, most of these devices use six-pulse-wave rectifier system. And the devices would cause substantive harmonics of 6k±1.These harmonics would be a great threat to the aluminum and public power system, severely imperiled the safety of aluminum and public power system.This paper briefly analyzed the reason that harmonic caused and its harm, introduced some methods of power system harmonic suppression, and made a brief evaluation of each method. In view of the rectification power system of Guizhou aluminum plant, the paper analyzed the primary cause of its harmonics, and established its harmonic model according to the method of power system harmonics analysis.On the foundation of discussing power system harmonic resonance and amplification, the paper analyzed the harmonic resonance of the aluminum plant power system. Setting out from practice, we tested the harmonics distribution of the aluminum plant power system.Also the paper estimated the harmonic current that flow into public network and the operational aspect of 44kA and 54kA. According to linear interpolation method, the paper calculated and analyzed the harmonic current of the power system when current output of one set rectifying device is 60kA, then found out the problem that existed in aluminum plant power system, especially in filter subcircuit. In view of the filter subcircuit problem, proposed a relevant solution and reformation scheme, through certification, proved the scheme can insure the aluminum plant power system work at 60kA safely and harmonic resonance won't happen.
