People have to face two serious problems: pollution of the environment and consumption of energy now. Electric vehicles are highly considered because of its no pollution and low yawp. At present, the power restricts the development of electric vehicle. Li-ion power batteries have many advantages: high power density, high energy density, long cycle life and no pollution. It is considered as one of the best choice of power source for electric vehicle. With the use of electrically powered vehicle, lots of even higher requirements for the Li-ion power batteries Battery Management System is put forward. In this paper, we studied the performance of the Li-ion power batteries firstly. And then, the author introduces a scheme of Li-ion power batteries management system and gives an innovative design for current batteries management system theoretically, based on detailing analysis of Artificial Neural Networks.BP Artificial Neural Network is utilized to build up models of the Li-ion power batteries. First, the BP Artificial Neural Network is trained, And then, its model is used to predict the performance of the battery. As the result, the BP Artificial Neural Network model that is built up by the author has better adaptability. It has predicted the Li-ion power batteries'relation of voltage, electric current and capacity. And it can predict the residual capacity and SOC of the Li-ion power batteries by batteries'state of charge. The predicted value of residual capacity and state of charge can be conveniently and rapidly obtained by this method. The maximal error is smaller than 6% and the accuracy of predicted value is satisfying. It gets the research target.Artificial Neural Networks technique is simple and understandable; it's a powerful tool to estimate Li-ion power batteries.
