In military field the information of measured parts including dimension and figure can not be shown to common person in case of leakage, a new coordinate measurement machine (CMM) is needed to be developed with the input of dimension and figure of part manually. In this paper, an intelligent input System for rotary part profile is designed to meet the above demand. It is a sub-subject of"Special Materials profile measuring machine". Using the input system, some important information such as parameter information of engineer graphics can be input and calculated. Then the IGES file of the part is created automatically.The main work of this dissertation includes:1. An intelligent input System for rotary part profile is designed and developed in the environment of VC 6.0. Some different input methods of line and arc has been offered to users based on the workflow of the system.2. A new algorithm is proposed to detect the validity and feasibility of inputted data, from closing property, the orientation property and the property of non self-intersection.3. An introduction is made for the format of IGES files used as the data exchange files in the integration of CAD & CAM. With the help of the input system, some important information such as parameter information of engineer graphics can be inputted and calculated. Then the IGES file of the part is created automatically.4. Sampling strategy planning is discussed. According to the accuracy requirement, a new strategy of location of the measured points based on the equal surface area of the every point is proposed. After comparing typical sampling strategies, Greedy Algorithm is applied for the system to solve the sampling strategy on the revolving part profile.5. Lots of experiments have been carried out and the result proves that this system is reliable and feasible.The main creative work includes:1.
