As an innovative style of structure, long span roofs have the character of long-span,flexible,light material, so it differ significantly from conventional buildings, especially in the consideration of wind loading during design, the decision of wind loads acting on large span roofs is usually the key and challenging problem for this kind of structure.Currently, there are three kinds of methods for determining wind loading: firstly, referring to wind loading code—volume of data is finite, only giving the value of wind loads for several rules construct, but microseism is lack, so it can't analyze wind-induced response of large span roofs; secondly, wind tunnel test—it fit for complicated long span roofs, but its disadvantage is long cycle and high expense; thirdly, Computational Fluid Dynamic(CFD)numerical simulation techniques—computational fluid mechanics is the new method for researching wind loads in recent year, by simulating flow changing around structure for solving wind loading for surface of structure, but it can't be recognized commonly.If can collect,coordinate and abstract data of wind load and information for structure, and express these in a easy manner for designer, it will enlarge content for wind load code and enhance efficiency and veracity for wind resistance design, this is the basic idea for wind load data base.Firstly, base on the study and character of wind loads for long span roofs, this article gives frame of wind load database by different countries code and data of wind tunnel test. It will particularly explain the key function module and the flow of use, giving frame for the whole article. Base on Access, building wind loads database system for several kind type roofs. it will importantly explain weave technique,disposal of data,format of data file and flow of data for building standard of developing wind load database and put the wind load information of plat roofs,saddle,dome into the database.Secondly, base on wind load database, together with the provision of wind load in china code(GB50009-2001),American code(ASCE7-98),Japan code ( AIJ-2004 ),Canada code ( NBC-1995 ) for plat roofs,dome, and comparing with wind tunnel test result, it discuss the wind load of this kind roofs. Combination of above result, some advices about the body type variation coefficient of wind pressure for flat roof and dome are given. saddle-shape roof isn't refer in code, its wind load character is similar as plat roofs, comparing with the wind load character of plat roofs, together with the conclusion of publish article, the distribution of wind pressure and the value of the body type variation coefficient of wind pressure are given.On the above-mentioned foundation, the information of wind load for plat roofs,saddle-shape roof,dome will be put into the wind load database system, exceed to open a very important one step for the establishment of wind load database system.
