Ecological protection for slopes is a new technology, largely applied in the supportive projects such as railway and highway slopes. It is an environmental protection subject integrating rock's engineering mechanics, biology, soil science, fertilizer study, silicate chemistry, gardening, and environmental ecology. Since the technology involves in many subjects, study is not systematic and mature enough at present. The key problem is to ascertain the afforesting base material formula's, which is the key for the slope eco-protection engineering successful. The paper studies in the problem through consulting the study of domestic and international rock slope, taking Guiyang Yunguan station-related charges'rock slop as the study object. The study has carried on the following content:Firstly the paper studyed on the mechanism of slope protection to the rock slope in theory and considered that its affection to the slope was owe mainly to the vegataion root system. Then the study analyzed the formation process and chemical and physical property of the Red Clay, and combined the mechanism of slope protection, characters of vegetation-concrete, finally figured out the best composition of the greening base.Secondly, the orthogonal method was adopted to study the compounding ratio of basis material through the testing in room. Then, through analyzing the testing data, the best compounding was obtained in the requirement of different time cycle. At last, according to the practical situation of rock slope of Yunguan station-related charges in Guiyang sity, the study results applied to design the ecological protection technique of rock slope is practical in some sense.
