Arch structure, a new structural form, which mainly is applied in structure of airport, library and exhibition buildings, has a good foreground in the future. In this paper, starting from Bernoulli's assumption for straight beams and introducing the Green strain definition in the linear analysis of solid mechanics, in-plane buckling equations for circular arches are derived using the method of energy. In this paper, based on natural characteristic of Arch structure, Ansys FEM program was used to simulate its geometrical linear behavior with beam element and cable element. This paper has made research on effect of various arch style, rise-span ratio and slenderness ratio on ultimate bearing capacity. This work gives some reference for technical application of Arch structure, and the main conclusion are as follows:1. Summarizing the work that the people of the past of the overview do, and development condition of the in-plane stability of arch , and analyzing characteristics and limit of various theories2. Inducing and analyzing the stability basic theories and stability calculation method.3. Deducing the equilibrium differential calculus equation of the in-plane unstability of arch4. Analyzing the brace point place to the influence of the in-plane buckling load of the pure arch.5.Using the method of elastic FEM in order to analyse the different parameter stabilizes the influence of the in-plane buckling load of the pure arch: (1) H/L rise-span ratio, (2) slenderness ratio, (3) Boundary condition6. Analyze and put forward the method that raises the arch extreme limit to load the dint. By the analysis, we find that it can raise to load the dint, letting up to move across in the quarter of the arch pulling the cable. And analysising the area of the cable to the influence of in-plane buckling load of Cable—Arc.
