This paper first reviews the history of the development of reinforced earth, introduced its application and development prospects,summed up the failure modes of the reinforced earth retaining walls,anslysis of its working mechanism and calculation design theory,proposed the necessity for researching reinforced retaining walls under earthquake and the advantage of researching reinforced concrent reinforced earth retaining wall with seismic finite element analysis method.The analysis to the reinforced concrent reinforced earth retaining wall under the static and dynamic role are through the finite element strength reduction method.By comparing the reinforced retaining walls with two different reinforced materials-geogrid and reinforced concrete in the static characteristics,can concluded that the reinforced concrent reinforced earth retaining wall is better than the polymer geogrids reinforced earth retaining wall,then have further analysis on nonlinear dynamic properties under earthquake.The results show some dynamic behavior rules to the retaining wall with unflexible reinforced materials.Through the transient dynamic time-history analysis and comparing the model in two cases of which dense reinforcement distribution and sparse reinforcement distribution,preliminary understanding the dynamic characteristics under the seismic action of the reinforced concrent reinforced earth retaining wall,and concluded the distribution of the largest tensile.The failure surface always been found at the plain soil.the retaining wall happened general slide failure.So when used the rigid reinforced materials,can think that its inter is stability,the external stability should be noticed especialy,and should checking at this aspect.This paper thought the finite element method to analysis the dynamic behavior characteristics of the retaining wall with unflexible reinforced materials,and made foundation to the further study of rigid material reinforced retaining walls for dynamic behavior characteristics.
