Retaining and protection of building foundation excavations have great development in recent years. This technology can be used to retain the soil, cut off the water and ensure the bottom of the pit stability in order to assume the necessary load. It also can guarantee the smooth progress of underground structural engineering. The retaining and protection structure of deep excavation pit is temporary structure during the construction, but wether its selection, calculation and construction is correct or not will affect construction security, period and the economic benefits and is one of the key technologies of the high-rise building construction. This article firstly featured deep excavation pit support structure in detail and introduce several common types of deep excavation pit support structure so as to sum up the common design methods of the current deep excavation pit. Then this article introduced the stability theory principles, methods and checking factors of a foundation pit.The article also introduced the concept of the soil nailing, the application of the soil nailing wall on the analysis of the role of soil nails and the characteristics of soil nailing and on the concept and characteristics of the composite soil nails. By studying the method of calculating of the structure of soil nailing, we in-depth analysed design and construction and some of the issues.China's deep excavation pit support technology advances in the various forms of excavation support. By summing up the types of support this context concluded the current existence of some problems, the prospect of soil nailing walls as well as development trends of deep excavation pit support technology in the future.
