In this paper, power system stabilizer (PSS), generator excitation control system and security and stability control are studied, which have influence on dynamic behaviors of power systems. Chapter 2 presents a detailed analysis of low frequency inter-area oscillations of 750kV Northwest China Power Grid for the year of 2008 based on the eigenvalue analysis method. The configuration of PSS in the 750kV power network of Northwest China Power Grid and corresponding optimal parameter setting scheme are proposed. In chaper 3, the parameters of the excitation system model used as simulated data in Qinghai Power Network for the year of 2007 is examined, and a new method of parameter setting for the typical excitation system model is proposed. At the initial stages of Northwest China 750kV power grid, system will operate under the conditions such as electro-magnetically and electric power transferred through long distance with high capacity. To maintain the secure and stable operation of 750kV power grid, the target of constructing Northwest China power grid is proposed in Chapter 4.
