More and more unbalanced Loads are used, which will lead to the power system's unbalance and threat the power system security. The main content of this thesis is to design TCR-SVC (TCR-Static Var Compensator), which can not only compensates the reactive power, but also can improve load imbalance state.The principle of SVC were analyzed firstly, and the basic conceptions, negative effects and solution of three phase unbalance were discussed in detail. when introduced the basic theory about the asymmetry compensating and analyzed the algorithm based on the symmetry components for obtaining the compensating admittance, Hilbert filter bank was used to calculate instantaneous reactive power.On the basic of the theory about the asymmetry compensating, A new type of static var compensator (SVC) is presented, which was used to compensate the unbalanced load and reactive power. Build the SVC simulation model based on Matlab. The strategy of symmetry compensation and the algorithm based on single-phase instantaneous reactive power is compared by the SVC simulation, The experiment validates the method algorithm based on single-phase instantaneous reactive power was better, and the difference between the direct compensating admittance control and the compensating admittance increment control strategy is compared by the SVC simulation. Simulation and experiment results verify the correctness of the proposed scheme.
