This paper attempts to design bogie frame which uses the aluminum alloy. So as to breach the box form structure of tradition steeliness bogie frame, it uses the cast aluminum alloy and Aluminum profile to replace steels and adopt the method of bolt joint to assemble the whole structure. The main objective of this research is to explore the feasibility about using aluminum alloy material to make bogie frame. The main contents in this paper are as follows:1. The dimension of aluminum alloy bogie frame which is contrast to the structure of tradition bogie frame design, and confirm the concretely molding mode—use the cast aluminum alloy and Aluminum profile and then adopt the method of mechanism joint. Establishing the model which uses the finite element software—ANSYS . it analyze the effect about Von Mises stress and strain which is about aluminum profile in the section form,the circumradius,section thickness and which is about the casting in the structure and the section thickness and rib thickness. Confirm the structure of the connect board base on aluminum profile girder and the casting girder, and give the total structure diagram of aluminum alloy bogie frame.2. using the bolt joint and rivet joint to analysis the connect capability about structure," the bolt joint is better than rivet joint in the connect capability in three aspects: the most Von Mises stress,the most shearing strength and the most displacement.3. Making an analysis which use the different simulation method of bolt preload in the simulation definition and cost time is to confirm the best simulation method which is the method of equivalent force. And aim at the simulation method (contact and coupling and constraint equation) of bolt joint to make an analysis in the stress and the cost time, the coupling and constraint equation is not only simulate bolt joint commendably but also save the cost time.4. It achieves the design of whole bogie frame; makes a static strength analysis, and compares with steel frame. It can educe the conclusion: the aluminum alloy bogie frame meet the request of the static stress. The mass is reduced by 20% comparing with steel frame. It achieves the aim of lightweight of bogie frame.By researching the structure of the aluminum alloy bogie frame, it makes an initial study to the feasibility about using aluminum alloy material to make bogie frame.
