Along with the economic development and technical advancement, electric power system will progress from regional power supply to large scale interconnected power system, which brings serious challenge to system stability. For this reason, the transient stability of power system is more important.This paper is based on transient energy and entropy function to analysis transient stability of power system. From system energy and single generator energy aspect, using information entropy function and PEBS analyzes transient stability of power system at COI and synchronism frame. The information entropy function perfects further more, it become a new method to analyze transient stability of power system.First, analyze transient stability, which is based on system energy function. The information entropy is structured by kinetic energy and potential energy, and analyzing it to get the law for judging transient stability. Compare the information entropy at COI frame with it at synchronism frame to see whether the law is feasible. And check the effectiveness by analyzing simulation at COI frame. The result using information entropy is same to using SBS.Second, analyze transient stability, which is based on single generator energy function. Through analyzing the change of single generator transient energy at different frames, the simulation indicates single entropy function is effective to judging transient stability at COI frame and at synchronism frame; at the same time researching the principles for choosing the critical generator, illuminate the meaning of critical generator, and discuss the differences between synchronism frame single generator PEBS and COI frame single generator PEBS. Analyzing simulation results of the faults which are at generator port and loading center, proof single generator PEBS at synchronism frame is effective method to decide power system transient stability.
