Pipeline leakage is a major problem on restricting the safe operation of the pipeline. There are serious economic losses caused by pipeline leakage, this problem is impatient to solve by some companies owned pipeline system such as the petroleum, petrochemical, water supply and drainage, heating, gas supply. It is very necessary that the resolution of this issue to the production and social stability. The changes of soil temperature field around and top of the pipeline are detected by sensing technique of optical fiber grating and imaging technique of thermal band, they are applied to pipeline leakage. Its research results can be used to guide the operations management of oil and chemical pipeline, scientific basis are provided for pipeline leak detection and pipeline of sustainable development.A laboratory device is established in this paper, it is used to detect pipeline leakage by applying temperature sensor system of optical fiber grating and thermal infrared imaging, and its basic principles and software applications are also discussed in this paper. Major works are as follows:1. Physical and mathematical models of temperature field before the leakage of the thermal pipeline are provided, and the infinite region of soil is simplified to finite region.2. The indoor experimental device of thermal pipeline leakage is established, it is used to test the changes of soil temperature field around and top of the pipeline before and after leakage, the coupling between hot water flowing and temperature field after leakage is researched.3. The experimental study on pipeline leakage detected is conducted by applying temperature sensor system of optical fiber grating and thermal infrared imaging in this paper, and the corresponding software applications are also discussed, the researches show that: the on-line monitoring of the pipeline leakage of trunk main is achieved by applying temperature measurement network of optical fiber grating distributed system, pipeline network of subzone can be detected by thermal infrared imaging technology. Thermal pipeline leakage point can be detected.
