A relatively high probability of fault may occur, because of the complex structure, multiple branches and wide coverage of the oilfield distribution network. Most of the faults are the single phase grounding faults, if ignored, will be likely to expand to interphase short circuit. Find out the fault line and debug it as soon as possible is very important.A technical solution is presented according to the features of the single phase grounding fault. A localization function is developed based on the current automatic fault line selector using harmonic injection method in Daqing Oilfield. Fault location, completely automatic fault branch election and timely transmission of the branch number to the control center which can let operators know about fault positions and debug in time are researched and realized.The single phase grounding fault section location problem is resolved theoretically and experimentally, using theoretical auto fault algorithm of distinct matrix and experimental ungrounded neutral point distribution network simulation test system.
