Presently,large ship handling simulator has been used widely,and delightful result has been obtained.According to the request for application field of the ship handling simulator with 3-D scene system in the STCW78/95,we know that ship handling simulator should provide manipulating environment as vivid and perfect as possible to the ship officers.Here,ships maneuvering mathematical model is the most important part.Accuracy of the ship maneuvering mathematical model is the key of the whole ship handling simulator.From the point of view of improving ship handling simulator,it's necessary to adding the different types of propelling to ship handling simulator to simulate the different types of ship movement.On the basis information about podded propulsors which has been released publicly,this paper did some researches on characteristics of movement mathematical model of large POD-ship,and established a group of more accuracy and completely equations of large POD-ship's 3-DOF motion by using method of MMG modeling. During the course of modeling,constitution of coordinate system,calculation of ship hull force,calculation of podded propulsors force,calculation of wake fraction of podded propulsors,thrust deduction factor and mathematical model of main engine have been talked about.At the last,the paper applies the calculation method-Runge-Kutta method to compute the equations to obtain the ship motion state.In order to test this mathematical model's accuracy and feasibility,this paper takes China's first semi-submersible vessel "TAN'AN KOU" which installed podded propulsors as an example,and simulates its turning motion and braking motion.The simulation results math sailing test data well and validate correctness of this model.To forecast the results more closer to reality,this paper has also considered the impact of the wind and current and has obtained a series of simulation resultsThe mathematical model built in this paper provides a theoretical basis for the manipulation of ship security assessment;At the same time,it also will provide the theoretical basis for the ship handling simulator and has a theoretical guide for the safety of the ship's handling...
