Settlement of tank foundation is an important aspect in the ground design. Storage tank ground requests that after loading there is no oversized settlement difference or inclines and can not endanger to the storage tank normal use. The ground distortion computation content mainly involves to many complex factors such as the soil body in the stress distribution, the earth stress-strain relations, the distortion computation target choice, the soil body lateral deformation, solidifying distorts, the superstructure and the foundation rigidity and so on.Because soft soil has characteristics such as the low intensity, high compressibility, the standard method cannot obtain satisfaction result on soft soil ground settlement computation. And because of influence of the tanks, the group tanks settlement rule is more complex than the separate. In order to guarantee the storage tank's normal use, settlement analysis and reliability calculation of storage tank on soft ground are necessary.Promoting settlement analysis and reliability calculation of storage tank on soft ground achievement to the storage tank design and construction department and avoiding the disadvantage factor can obtain great economic efficiency and social efficiency.The paper first analyzed main basic natural and physical mechanics characteristic of soft soil.For the foundation of tank, the distributing discipline of extra stress and distortion of homogeneous soil and inhomogeneous soil are studied in the paper by using the method of finite difference method and compared with the results by formula of criterion, method of 3-D settlement and foundation,finite element method. The result illuminates that the way of finite element is dependable for analyzing extra stress and distortion of groundwork of storage tank.In view of the storage tank group quincunx arrangement situation, settlement computation is carried on with the finite difference method and the paper has studied mutual influence between the storage tanks. Considers following three questions in view of each storage tank base board: Central and edge settlement difference, plane incline and non-plane incline. Reasonable way of disposing storage tanks and spacing are discussed in the paper.According to the settlement of the tank, the function of the tank is established. The reliability of the tank is calculated by the first-order second-moment method and the Monte Carlo method, and the results of the both methods are compared and analyzed.The paper research results may provide basic theory support and value confirmation for storage tank settlement fundamental research and ground foundation design.
