It brings many problems to the highway construction. So it is always treated with surcharge preloading method, composite foundation method and so on, but these methods can not satisfy the needs of construction stabilization, time, settlement after construction. But the vacuum preloading method has mortal superiorityOn the basis of the developing history, current research condition and treatment principle of the vacuum preloading method, as well as, in combination with the project of the soft soil foundation improvement in the k39+050-k39+110 superhighway of Ping Lin which adopts the vacuum preloading method, the treatment steps and contents can be clearly presented. At the same time, the treatment effects can be carried out through the facts of vacuum degree, pore pressure, underground water level and foundation settlement.Finally, because of the foundation treatment, the surrounding soils have transformed. Some methods should be taken afterwards. And based on the analysis findings all above, some preferential designing methods have been proposed. Meanwhile, suggestions for the future research have been put forward.
