Porous media widely exist in nature, engineering materials, organs, oil and water reservoirs etc. We consider the materials of hydro-channels in PEM fuel cell as porous media. The tree network structures arise extensively in circulatory and respiratory systems of plants and animals, communication, social cooperation, economic, river basin, oil/water reservoirs, power supply of a city and microelectronic cooling systems etc. The properties of the network and the transport properties (electrical, thermal and fluid flow etc.) in the network have received considerable attention recently. The proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC) converts the chemical energy directly into electricity. The PEM fuel cells are expected to be the future power generating devices for the transportation, portable electronic and local applications, on account of their very low negative effects and higher conversion efficiency. The energy of PEMFC inverts very quickly. In this paper, we present a planar mathematical model to establish the model for hydro-channels in PEMFC by the self-similar tree networks. This model is based on the knowledge of the fractal-like tree networks to calculate the connection of flux and the shape as well as the material of hydro-channels in PEMFC.
