The aircraft piston engine is generally used in unmanned helicopter, the speed control of the engine has been one of an important problem. The following works are carried out.(1) Built an engine input-output model used multi-element regression forecast method and based on a great deal experiment data. The engine model can be used in the control simulating proved by the comparison between simulation results and experiment data.(2) Presented a algorithms to the PID-based control based on the Back Propagation Artificial Neural Network(BP NN-PID), and simulated the algorithms used the engine model mentioned above. Tuned the PID parameters. Compared with the traditional PID control, the performance of NN-PID is better.(3) Presented a theory to calculate the relation among the helicopter flight speed, helicopter total torque of blades and the torque of engine. Built up the"total torque of blades-flight speed-engine torque"nonlinear loading model used MATLAB based on Elman NN.(4) Presented an engine speed control model, which joins the feedforward control model, is built by the formula educed by the theory mentioned above. This joined model can optimize the engine speed control, quicken the response, which is tested in the simulation.(5) Introduced the hardware and software, included the microcomputer software and the man-machine interface software.(6) Verified the control algorithms by the test-bed of the power equipment and helicopter flight experiment. The experiment results indicate that the NN-PID and feedforward control have better performance.The research work in this thesis is very helpful for the unmanned helicopter engine speed control.
