As the most effective means to increase the economics and reliability of power station, pumped storage power station with Static Frequency Converter (SFC) for starting up is widely used. During the start up of SFC period, much harmonic current are generated and cause the voltage source in the grid to be distorted, THD in gird increase. This paper introduces a model and simulation of the pumped storage power station with six and twelve pulse rectifier.Research on effect of different parameter in grid is taken and the suppression of harmonic in grid is discussed.This paper analyzes the loss breakdown of shunt Active Power Filter (APF) and introduces a method of loss estimation.Expressions of loss calculation are deduced. Experiments are carried out to validate the theory on loss calculation, supplying the engineers with important reference to decrease the loss generated by APF and increase the efficiency.
