| Maganetorheological fluid is an intelligent material which has got great progress. MR damper Based on this intelligent material with the advantages of simple structure, continuously-variable damping force, rapid response, strong power, small energy consumption becomes a new generation of half-active controller and will be widely used in the future.In order to explore the mechanical characteristics of MR damper under ship work conditions, a ship vibration damper composed of MR damper and spring wire rope in parallel is designed in this paper. Taking the ship equipment as the object, physical experiments about the vibration damper have been carried out. Then, the elastic foundation isolation system based on MR damper is numerically analyzed on single degree of freedom and multiple degrees of freedom respectively, which offer reference for the application of MR damper in ship vibration engineering.The main work in this paper is as follow:1. In this paper, the performance, work mode and calculation model of maganetorheological fluid (called MR for short) are introduced; and the calculation formula of MR damper force based on Binham model is derived on the condition of vibration ; then, mechanics performance of MR damper is tested, and the relationships of damping force with displacement and velocity are analyzed.2. Based on the idea of MR damper and steel wire rope in parallel, the vibration damper model is designed for protecting ship equipment such as engine, assisted engine etc.3. According to the ship vibration damper model, a series of physical experiments have been carried out to analyze vibration characteristics, and compared the results with numerical experiments. Then, the mechanical characteristics of MR damper in ship vibration damper are described.4. Numerical experiments research on eslatic foundation isolation system based on MR damper are carried out and mechanical characteristics of MR damper under this work condition are got.
