The fracture reasons of combined crankshaft are very complicated, which may be combined crankshaft its own flaws, the installation of accuracy, also possibly is its performance did not meet design requirements. This paper from the combined crankshaft performance, analyzed the potential reasons for the combined crankshaft fracture failure. Based on the working principle of crank linkage, the combined crankshaft was carried on the kinematics formulas, dynamics computations and obtained its integrated piston force, radial force and other data. The combined crankshaft's entity simplified model was established in the UG software. Through the software interface, the model is imported and meshed in the ANSYS software, where the paper obtained the finite element model finally. In view of the main different forms of damage, the paper researched the journal and the spline shaft separately. To the journal part, the paper selected its the greatest tension and compression stress condition and carried out analysis of the static strength and fatigue coefficient of safety check under this two kind of working conditions. To the spline shaft part, the use of contact analysis, this paper calculated its shear stress under the reverse condition, and then analyzed its static strength and fatigue. The computed result shows that the combined crankshaft's strength satisfied the work requirement basically. Considering the resonance easily to initiate premature fatigue failure of combined crankshaft, the paper also studied the dynamic characteristic of combined crankshaft through the modal analysis.
