This paper deals with the modeling and simulation of a project of ground-source heat pump system in Tianjin. A model of the ground-source heat pump system on the platform of TRNSYS program was built, with employing the GHP library module and HVAC library module. With TRNSYS programs, detailed architectural simulations on the typical rooms, and calculation of the building's heating load in winter and cooling load in summer during a whole year were completed. The principal method for designing the cooling/heating source of the heat pump system was obtained by analyzing the characteristics of the heating and cooling load. Moreover, by simulating the running features and trends of the pump as well as the alteration of ground temperature, it was found that heat stored in soil in summer is 2.18 times of heat extracted from soil in winter, the soil temperature will increase gradually by the imbalance of energy. The result of simulation was compared with the experimental results of the architecture, which showed quite good agreement, indicating that the model is able to make reliable predictions for the heat pump system design with software. Therefore, the robustness of our TRNSYS model is proved with its value in both theory and application.Optimization of the original model was also analyzed. By the way of temperature-signal-control, which inspects the change of the temperature and turn on/off the system, data about the system's energy consumption and strategies for energy saving were worked out. From the result of optimization it was concluded that when the temperature indoor is set to 27℃the energy saving of system becomes obvious.
