Coal gangue is the wastes during building the coal mines and exploitation and process of coal. Now lots of accumulations of coal gangue could not only use up a lot of farmlands, woodlands, residential lands, but also pollute the atmosphere, farmlands and water, and even endanger the safety of people. It is an important subject that how to make better use of coal gangue as the roadbed fillings, which could expand the comprehensive utilizations of coal gangue and increase social benefits. The coal gangues spread all over the country, and the performance of it has a larger differences. So before the coal gangue could be used, experimentations should be carried on to ensure of the safety of the actual projects. The research object of this research is coal gangue from WeiFang city in ShanDong province.The contents of this research such as: the performances of coal gangue including physical and mechanical properties and activity performance; research of the mixture's proformances including lime, fly ash and coal gangue; improving the mixture's frost resistance by cement, including loss of quality strength etc. The limit number of freeze-thaw used to evaluate the capacity of the largest frost resistance. During the activity and engineering properties of coal gangue, statistics are done on unconfined compressive strength between coal gangues and stones in some areas in china.and some advice has been given; during the cement content and construction periods, discussions are done on the cement contents in different areas and seasons; in the advice to road desigen, studies are done on the changes of temperature in different soil depth in the whole year. and it is provided that the number of freeze-thaw cycles and the reference value of cement contents, which could give some references for engineering practice.Study shows: The activity of coal gangues is higher than it of false sands, and the growth rate of strength of coal gangues is higher than false sands. the cement plays a significant role in improving the performance of the mixture.It not only improves the strength of mixture, especially early strength, but also improves the mixture's performance of frost resistance. with the increase of cement,the mixture's performance of frost resistance has been improved.In the winter construction, in order to ensure the project quality,a certain amount of cement could be added. Statistics could find that mixtures of coal gangue have a higher unconfined compressive strength than the mixtures of stones, and some advice is given for the design and construction of the road.
