As a useful vehicle, electric-bicycle is a great tool for human being instead of walking. It has developed so fast these years, especially in China. In 2000, there were about 290,000 manufactured that year. And in 2006, the number is up to 19,200,000. Almost 95 percents of this vehicle are used with lead-acid battery. As far as it can be seen right now, it's gonna flourish in the next couple of years. The lead-acid battery is not good in performance below the 0℃. So the electric-bicycle is not popular in the north of china. If we could make a progress in the performance of the battery at the low temperatures, the vehicle will be widely used all over the country. As a sample, the 6DZM10 has been studied at the low temperatures(-10℃~-20℃), particularly at -10℃.Some additives had been added in the NAM. They had a great influence in the performance of battery at the low temperatures, but it also brings some negative effects. It can be good for the battery's performance as well as bad for the battery in some other parts, like the life of battery. We have studied the characters of these additives, and make sure the balance between the excellent performance of battery at low temperatures and the negative effect it takes in.We found that the use of the inorganic additives (Na2SO4, BaSO4, graphite etc.) is good for the battery at the low temperatures. Although the SnSO4 is good for the volume of battery, the life of lead-acid battery is decreased for it. So the use of these additives must be seriously considered. The organic additives like lignin and humus had some negative effect in the charge of the battery, but at the low temperatures, they are good for the discharge, especially used with inorganic additives.
