Study On Transport Planning Of Modern Urban Waterfront

It is especially true that the waterfront region is playing an unique role in the rapid urbanization of modern city which is based on city transportation syetem. Meanwhile, in the process of developing the waterfront region, urban transportation system also plays a decisive role.Firstly, this thesis summarizes the experience an lessons of the development ofurban waterfront, and summarizes that human should develop urban waterfront friendly and harmoniously. Then the thesis makes a detailed analyses of transport demand of urban waterfront, give the viewpoints of strategies, aims etc.Secondly, the thesis gives emphasis on two major elements of transport system in urban waterfront—across-river transport planning and along-river transport planning. In the discussing of across-river transport planning, the thesis puts forwards the across-river traffic planning countermeasures—centralized across-river traffic and decentralized across-river traffic, in every phase of the development of the across-river city. While discussing along-river transport planning, we focus on two slower traffic systems under the background of space loose and space tension.Finally, the thesis uses the traffic plan of BCD zone of Xuhui region in Shanghai as a case study. The Expo, held in 2010, will bring a rare opportunity to BCD unit which is waterfront of Huangpu River. Planning on the transport system reflects the waterfront development of the characteristics of transport services. We use the conclusions in the thesis to give a new transport plan in these units.
