Preparation and characteristic of low-saturation Li-ferrite used in S band phase shifter are studied according to requirements of S band ferrite phase shifter to ferrite materials. Development of microwave ferrite materials is introduced briefly, crystal structure, magnetization technique and application mechanism of Li-ferrite in microwave field are analyzed. Based on detailed analyzing and reasoning, a scheme by way of doping LiTi and MgTi into major formulation as well as combining ion substitution and sintering temperature is proposed, materials samples are prepared with oxides mixing process. Through test and analyzing to the samples, effect of two ion substitutions and sintering temperature to performance of ferrite materials are studied systematically. Following conclusions are obtained:1. Li-ferrite materials with low saturation magnetic inductance intensity can be prepared through ion substitution by using of LiTi and MgTi.2. Li-ferrite shows different properties in saturation magnetic inductance intensity, remanence, squareness ratio, coercive force temperature characteristics and dielectric loss at different sintering temperature.3. Li-ferrite materials with low saturation magnetic inductance intensity applicable for S band phase shifter are prepared through test, and preparation process parameters are determined.
