With the swift and violent development of our nations'economy, concrete-filled tubular structures have been used more and more popularly in the commercial plazas, palestra, bridges, high buildings and skyscrapers. Structures with concreted-filled rectangular steel tube members have good application prospect owing to its'own configuration.Joint region is not only the key component of a building, but also the difficulty in designing and construction. Whether the joint itself is rational or not, is directly related to the safety of the building. Now there are few reports on the connecting method between concrete-filled rectangular tube column and beam. The existing theories and experimental research about joint region are not perfect. Load-bearing mechanism as well as the calculating methods of joint region is the key technique restricting the use of such structures. This article will analyze shear load-bearing capacity of joint region of concrete-filled rectangular steel tube column and steel beam with internal diaphragms. And this will make important academic and practical sense to the spread of such structures. This article will consider shear load-bearing capacity of web plate and frange plate of the steel tube column and the concrete of joint region using limit analysis method. Shear load-bearing mechanism theory of beam with thin web plate and diagonal strut mechanism will be used respectively in the analysis of shear load-bearing capacity of rectangular steel tube and concrete of joint region. The formulas of how to calculate shear load-bearing capacity of joint region will be concluded by applying virtual work principle. Also this article suggests that the bond strength between steel tube column and concrete can be checked computations by the formulas given by AIJ. Then this article will validate the correctness of the formulas concluded by such theories given above by using the experiment data done by others. Also the comparison will be shown among this formulas, the one in the code"Technical specification for structures with concrete-filled rectangular steel tube members"(CECS 159:2004) and research results given by others. And the result shows that the formulas given by this article is simple, and coincides well with experiment data. At last, this article will use the finite element simulation software ANSYS to give the P-Δcurves of joint region and analyze the relationship between shear load-bearing capacity and the materials of joint region.
