The object of this paper is to research the behavior of disinfection by-products forming in drinking water purification process and optimizes the control method of the disinfection byproducts in such process. Disinfection by-products (DBPs) is harmful to the heath of people which could be normally detected in drinking water disinfection process, especially in the mainly disinfection method, chlorine disinfection, at present.After consult the amount of domestic and international references of DBPs. The organics in the source of drinking water, which called DBPs precursor (DBPP), are chosen to be researched. As the basic of studying the formation organism and chlorinated characters of DBPP, a pilot test was carried in Jinan Yuqing water supply plant to study the removal of DBPs and DBPP in some certain kinds of purification water treatment processes. And optimize the mentioned processes to assess their influences to the DBPs and DBPP during the water purification treatment system. All of the research results are to provide the realistic references for the improvement of water purification process of water supply plant. Generally, this research has made the following results:Reached and setup the analytical method for HAAs, which is safety, reliable and accurate, and can be used for the normal laboratory of water supply plant. The fumaric acid is chosen to be the research object to imitate the DBPP. The studies evaluated the chlorinated characters and influences to DBPs formation during a simulation of water purification process. It was found that the DBPs could be reduced through shorting the disinfection contact time and decreasing water retain time in municipal tube nets in practice.Through analyzing the organic materials of Jinan Yuqing water supply plant source water. It was found that the hydrophilic organic materials accounted for 54% of total organic materials. However, the DBPs formed from the hydrophilic organics accounted for more than 70% of quantity after the disinfection. It is obvious that hydrophilic organics are the main components of DBPP, which should be mainly got rid of from water purification process. The monitoring of traditional treatment processes in Jinan Yuqing water plant and the carrying investigations of water treatment processes combinations in pilot tests had proven that the optimum sequence of different process combinations are as following: pre-oxidation plus traditional process and advanced treatment process > traditional process and advanced treatment process > pre-oxidation and traditional process > traditional process according to DBPs and precursors control efficiency. And pre-chlorination suggested to be prohibited.
