With the development of weapon industry and aerospace industry, military products sets a higher demand on reliability and safety of internal defects with nondestructive testing at specimen. Defect like crack may exist in military industry products is serious hidden trouble.Barrel is an important components in firearms. Barrel subjected to huge pressure when bullet in launching, so quality of barrel material requires very high. It has important function to the improve barrel quality,reduce labor intensity,prolonging service life through detecting barrel internal defect like crack,stomatal,slag inclusion etc by X-ray detection techniques.This paper introduces X-ray detection techniques of species including X-ray film photographic,Direct Radiography,Industrial Computer Tomography,Computed Radiography and Compton scatter imaging,also Summarize for X-ray detection techniques Research and Development at home and abroad.Puts forward a X-ray automatic detection system suitable for gun barrels on production line.This paper Investigated operation principle of X-ray detection and established X-ray detection for gun barrels.Comparative Analysis for Several X-ray real-time detection way determined the method of detection system is Direct Radiography.Then, based on the structure of the gun barrels and the principles of x-ray Direct Radiography selecting components of imaging system,and analyzed the effect of imaging quality by detectiong system. Overall performance checking calculation to selected components of imaging system can be satisfied in this detection requirement. Presenting three kinds of general scheme for worktable mechanism, including the conveyer,turret and c-arm scheme.This paper analyzes in detail the position and motion relation of all parts in each scheme and points out advantages and disadvantages of each method for X-ray detection, determined use turret scheme finally.Based on general scheme for worktable mechanism ,using modular design methods the worktable is designed which is composed of x-ray transmitter module, x-ray receiver module and rotary table module.Research design of key component of every module.Compiling image processing software for X-ray detection of gun barrels and evaluating the image processing performance for software by compared the evaluation conclusion from image processing software with experimental model.Through research on gun barrels based on X-ray detection this subject is devoted to development worktable and image processing and analysis system. In order to realize as a basis for better detection detection these parts.Also provided one effective means about quality control for gun barrels on production line.
