By using the fundamental theories of combustion and a series of experimental study,the combustion characteristic of LPG are investigated.The main parameters such as indictor diagrams and heat release rate are calculated and analyzed. Gasoline for compared, a detail study is performed about the influence of the load,the speed and the ignition timing on combustion characteristics. The results of study show that the transmitting speed of flames is longer than gasoline.The combustion status of LPG is improved, but the problem of long combustion duration also exists when speed and load are increased. It is useful to adjust ignition timing,but NOx emission increase. Take the findings as a foundation, proposed some improvement liquified petroleum gas engine performance measure: Increases the ignition angle of advance suitably, increases the liquified petroleum gas to supply the spirit as well as the high speed time extra supplement liquified petroleum gas, when condition permission enhances the compression ratio as well as the correct adjustment and organization burning; The small load area increases the ignition angle of advance, may enable the burning improvement to achieve approaches in the gasoline level; The big load area increases the ignition to propose the angle, causes in the quick burning time the release quantity of heat to increase as far as possible, reduces the after-combustion period, or will have the high pressure fuel gas to introduce the mixer directly, will cause air admission enriching; The optimization designs, the exchaust gas system to enhances the engine filling ratio; Choice, design reasonable burning way, combustion chamber shape as well as air admission way.
