With the development of economy, the construction of electric engineering becoming more and more fast. But, the site and pathway of electric engineering become a tough problem because of land issues and planning issues. It has great impact with the body of the mountain for grounding project, so many transformer substations and line towers have to be built on the peak with high soil resistivity. The traditional grounding design nowadays are lead by empirical judgments, that can not analyze all the impact that the body of the mountain could do for the peak grounding system in substations, which will lead to the waste of materials, or even a series of safety problems such as to exceed the standard of grounding resistance and step voltage. In order to objectively analyze the influence that mountain have upon the grounding system in substations on mountain top, safely, economic realize the power electrical grounding network in the mountain area, a theory system based on numerical calculation and objective analysis, which can guide the design of the mountain area grounding project. Therefore, an analyzing model and method using the world-wide famous CDEGS simulation software is introduced. The establishment of the model is the foundation of the numerical calculation. The essence of this research paper lies in using the aid of high-technique software to perform series of analysis and comparison, summarizing, the affection of mountain upon numbers of grounding systems that may occur in various circumstances and hence proposing appropriate engineering suggestions. This paper uses CDEGS simulation as a basic research mean, with the construction of single grounding model, grounding network model and air model, establishes an appropriate calculation model. Then simulates the grounding resistance and step voltage, the most important parameters in grounding system, realizes the analysis of influence from mountain to grounding system in substations on top of the mountain and summed up series of practicing engineering suggestions and conclusions, which had been applied and proved in practical projects, and may become universal guidelines in grounding projects in mountain areas.
