Illumined by"Doguard"which was designed by Israeli firm in 2001,we took some kinds of sound in nature as the research object, such as dog's bark, chime and so on. In this study, vibration theory and sound testing equipments were employed. Some beneficial results were obtained, they can be used for structural damage detection.This paper can be summarized as:1. Basing on a great amount of investigation, analyzing and trial and error, a new sound testing system was established.2. The new system was calibrated systematically by precise sinusoidal wave.3. Temporal and frequency domain characteristics of some typical sounds were obtained by employing above system and MATLAB program4. Five groups of dog's bark data were recorded and analyzed in temporal and frequency domain, and the"fingerprint"of the dog's bark was established.5. Basing on the testing and analyzing, the characteristics of sound are studied to find the damaged plate. More attention is paid to discuss whether the method based on variation of sound can be used to find the damage of structure.
