Broadband transducer is widely applied in underwater acoustic technology. The bandwidth of the transducer does not only relat to the spectral and spatial characteristics of acoustic signal, but also determine the data rate, reliability, confidentiality, and information content of echo signal etc. According to a system, the gain of the array can also be improved by the increase of the transducer bandwidth. Multiple-mode-coupling is easier to applied on longitudinal vibrates transducer to widen bandwidth compared with other types, and one of this type has more advantages like sturdier structure, higher reliability, simpler manufacture process and application.Mechanical system such like head mass and compliant section is introduced into traditional tonpilz transducer to implement a double head mass transducers, which is able to stimulate the first and second order vibrates on longitudinal mode of a transducer. An equivalent circuit diagram is provided in this paper based on cascade theory. The parameters of head mass and compliant section are also tuned by ANSYS, with the decrease of valley among resonance peak caused by combination pre-stress of bolt vibrates on longitudinal mode, the response and frequency of the vibrates, the bandwidth performances are also improved. The prototype is designed and manufactured, and the performance of which is tested via experimentations. A broadband transducer at about one octave is implemented composed with the first, second order vibrates on longitudinal and the bolt vibrates. The bandwidth in 5dB range is 8~19kHz, the peak transmitting voltage response is 148dB, highest value of Conductance is 3.2mS, which basically correspond with theoretical parameters.
