In the widening of highway bridges, the difference of concrete shrinkage and creep effects between new and old bridges leads to additional internal force and deformation of the structure, which has great influence on the durability and safeness of the bridges. This paper mainly studies the shrinkage and creep effects of new and old bridges in the widening of highway bridges. According to the prestressed concrete T girder bridge in the reconstruction and extension projects of Beijing-Tianjin expressway, this paper researches on the load performance of widening bridge, the deformation of widening bridge and jointing time of new and old bridges. This paper calculates and analyses internal force and deformation of widening prestressed concrete T girder bridge by grillage method. The results show that the difference of concrete shrinkage and creep effects has great influence on the joint and boundary girders near joint. In order to decrease the difference of concrete shrinkage and creep effects between new and old bridges, which can reduce additional internal force and deformation of the structure, this paper studies on internal force of widening bridge in various jointing times. The results show that delaying the jointing time is an effective method.
