As one of the five general non-destructive testing technologies, ultrasonic testing method has already been widely used and rapidly developed. It has many advantages, such as wide testing objects, deep testing depth, accurate flaw orientation and low cost. In the field of thick steel plate testing, ultrasonic non-destructive testing is of great importance. With the development of industry, the demand of high grade steels is much greater, and it cries for advanced testing technologies and methods.The automated ultrasonic testing vehicle is put forward beyond the analysis of many kinds of testing instruments. It completely succeeds the strongpoints of both large and handy equipments, such as convenient use, high automatization and flexible field testing. Based on the principle of flaw echo, data acquisition card and control system are designed. According to the logic of FPGA and structure of acquisition card, some experiments and tests are made, which improved the card's performance.The following are main achievements of this thesis:1.Designed the machine structure of testing vehicle, such as turning device, motor drivers, wheel drives etc.2.Designed an eight-channel data-acquisition card with ultrasonic transmitting circuit, dynamic gain amplifier circuit, band filter circuit, high speed ADC circuit, control circuit, data communication interface circuit etc.3.Designed and compiled the codes of XC2S100 with Verilog HDL, which achieved the testing sequence and data handling function. Main modules of it contain control parameters memory, DAC curve data memory, narrow pulse width control, sample delay and length control, coding channels choice, data average division, peak data extracting, DAC curve flaw judgement etc.4.Designed a control system circuit board of testing vehicle, including regulated power supply circuit, inertial navigation circuit, direct current motor driver circuit, core control circuit, data communication interface and some other circuits.5.Compiled the codes of MCUs both data-acquisition card and control system. The man-machine interaction interface was also designed with Labview.6.According to the requirements of system, some data acquisition experiments and tests were made.
